About
Knowledge worth your time.
We are an independent publication based in Berlin, built on the belief that good ideas deserve clear explanations — not endless caveats and jargon.
Our Mission
Why Briefsy exists
The world produces more information every day than any one person can process. But most of what matters — the ideas that change how professionals think and act — can be explained in a few hundred well-chosen words. That is the Briefsy bet.
We started Briefsy in 2026 because we kept seeing the same problem: important concepts explained either too shallowly (tweet threads with no depth) or too densely (academic papers nobody reads). The sweet spot — clear, accurate, actionable explanations in 5 minutes — was underserved.
Our editorial process starts with a question a curious professional might actually ask: "What is this, why does it matter, and what should I take away?" We answer that question with care, research, and no advertising pressure. Every article is written by a human, fact-checked against primary sources, and reviewed by an editor before publication.
We do not accept sponsored content, affiliate arrangements, or investment from parties with editorial interests. Briefsy is funded entirely by reader support.
Our Values
What we stand for
Accuracy first
We check claims against primary sources. Uncertainty is stated plainly; we do not pretend to know things we do not.
Clarity above all
If a concept cannot be explained simply, we have not understood it well enough. We keep rewriting until it is clear.
Independence
No advertisers, no sponsors, no investors with editorial interests. Our only obligation is to readers.
Respect for time
Every article is written to be read in under 5 minutes. We cut ruthlessly. Your attention is valuable.
The Team
The people behind Briefsy
A small editorial team with backgrounds across journalism, technology, and behavioural science.
Mara Okonkwo
Editor-in-Chief & AI Writer
Mara has a decade of experience covering technology and artificial intelligence for print and digital publications. She previously reported for a major German broadsheet and has a Masters in Science Communication from Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin. She writes Briefsy's AI and internet culture coverage and oversees editorial standards across all topics.
Thomas Ashby
Psychology & Productivity Writer
Thomas studied experimental psychology at Heidelberg University before spending five years as a researcher in behavioural economics. He found academic writing impenetrable and frustrating — which is exactly why he joined Briefsy. His articles on procrastination, habit formation, and the attention economy consistently rank among our most-read pieces.
Priya Nair
Finance & Business Writer
Priya worked in equity research in Frankfurt for eight years before realising most financial commentary was designed to confuse rather than inform. She now writes about business models, monetary policy, and personal finance for Briefsy. She holds a CFA charter and a BSc in Economics from the University of Mannheim.
Independence
Our funding and independence
