Editorial Policy
This document describes the standards, processes, and principles that govern how Briefsy creates and maintains its editorial content. We publish it in the interest of transparency.
1. Editorial Independence
Briefsy maintains complete editorial independence. Article topics, angles, and conclusions are determined solely by the editorial team based on journalistic merit and reader interest. No advertiser, sponsor, investor, or third party has any influence over our editorial decisions. We do not accept payment for editorial coverage, placement, or favourable treatment of any kind.
2. Topic Selection
Topics are selected based on the following criteria:
- Is this a concept that a curious, busy professional might genuinely want to understand?
- Can we explain it clearly and accurately in approximately 5 minutes?
- Is there enough reliable source material to write a well-evidenced piece?
- Does the topic have lasting relevance, or does it serve a narrow, time-sensitive purpose?
We prioritise depth over volume. We do not publish articles to fill a content calendar.
3. Research and Sourcing
All factual claims in Briefsy articles are sourced from:
- Peer-reviewed academic research published in reputable journals.
- Reports and data from established institutions (central banks, regulatory bodies, research organisations).
- Reputable journalism from established print and digital publications.
- Primary sources such as official filings, speeches, or publications by individuals referenced.
We do not rely on anonymous sources, single-source claims, or press releases as the primary basis for factual assertions. Where a claim is contested or uncertain, we say so explicitly.
4. Fact-Checking Process
Every article goes through the following process before publication:
- Draft review: The author verifies all factual claims against primary or secondary sources before submission.
- Editorial review: The Editor-in-Chief or a designated editor reads the draft for factual accuracy, clarity, and tone.
- Source check: Key claims are traced back to their original source and verified.
- Final edit: The article is reviewed for any remaining issues before publication.
5. Corrections Policy
We are committed to transparency when we make mistakes. Our corrections process:
- Correction requests should be sent to [email protected] with "CORRECTION" in the subject line.
- We will acknowledge all credible correction requests within two business days.
- If we confirm an error, we will correct the article and add a clearly labelled correction notice at the bottom of the article stating what was changed and when.
- We will not silently alter published content. Substantive changes are always noted.
- Minor corrections (typos, grammar) may be made without a correction notice.
6. AI and Automated Content
All articles published on Briefsy are written by named human authors. We do not publish AI-generated content as editorial content. AI tools may be used to assist with research and editing, but the intellectual work of researching, structuring, and writing each article is performed by our human editorial team.
7. Conflicts of Interest
Authors are required to disclose any personal or financial interest in subjects they cover. Where a potential conflict is identified, a second editor reviews the article independently. If a conflict cannot be satisfactorily managed, the article will be assigned to a different author.
8. Reader Feedback
We value reader input. If you have a question, suggestion, or concern about any piece of content, please contact us at [email protected]. We read all messages and use reader feedback to improve our coverage.
